Most breeds of dog have a cut specific to and appropriate for that breed. Yorkies definitely have a recognized cut that is often preferred by owners. Yorkies are also known to be difficult to groom. Owners of show yorkies can spend hours a day “grooming” meticulously, because yorkie hair is so fine and is usually worn long.
I would much rather pay someone else to groom my yorkies, although I would not rather pay the grooming bills. A more affordable option is dog grooming training. With the right training a dog owner can become as good a groomer as a professional dog groomer.
The trouble I have found with grooming yorkies is the guesswork involved. I don’t know exactly how to cut the hair in the right shape. Often I am nervous about how the dog will end up looking. Dogs can sense their owner’s nervousness and will respond accordingly.
My dogs do not appreciate being groomed. They are anxious enough already while being groomed. After the proper training an owner would have the confidence needed to calm the dog being groomed.
So where can you find dog grooming training? Future posts await to address this very issue. I assure you that many businesses exist that offer dog grooming training. Many books have also been published about this topic.
