What makes me sick is they want big $$$ to rescue these things,,,,,
For what, they dont eat anything, the economy sucks and they shouldl give the dogs to a family that can afford to feed them, for $50.00 donation,,
Other than that , I would use those ugly dogs for just a parking stop for my truck

I am not wealthy. I took in a very senior tiny yorkie. He was blind and deaf. His teeth were awful and kept him sick. I paid to have his teeth removed and took good care of him. The vet told me he was too old
for the investment... he was worth every bit of love and dollars he needed. I had him just over a year and he will be in my heart forever.

He was well loved and enjoyed each day he had with me. He recently passed away due to kidney failure at a very old age.. but he went knowing he was loved.

I loved him and I do not have a lot of money. I want another to love.
Do not discourage people from rescuing these precious lives.

Sandra...fantastic point you made. There are many articles on our site by yorkie owners; any by Amanda or Bart, for example. If you are unable to find answers to your questions please ask...and we will address those specifically! :) We love to help.

Thank you very much for your input, we would love to hear from you again.

I am glad that -simonsmommy- pointed out the money issue. It is difficult to care for anything and its even more difficult to express exactly what you mean to say on the internet. So Thank you simonsmommy, I'm off to get a TYD! I dont have the $ to dish out but I will do the research maybe even resue one...I first have to do some more research because "the title reads "yourkies best pet for you?" and all i got out of it was about $.
so maybe what someone who has a dog should do is write about having one as a pet ... not trying to get one or defend someone elses article they didnt write.i just want to learn about the dog here....I'm just throwing that out there! someone write an article that knows about these dogs please!

Although I cannot speak for Francis, I do know that Francis was saving his own money to build a rescue for dogs. I believe Francis was expressing a feeling of sickness at the thought of how much yorkies cost. I also know that Francis was not wealthy in the least; he spends much of his hard earned money as a member of the working class feeding dogs that do not have homes.

Thank you for visiting our site!

While I agree with the sentiment of this post (taking care of ANY dog is a serious responsibility), ultimately, the logic doesn't pan out. It's the same thing as saying that someone who can't afford to adopt a child (with a $30,000 adoption fee) shouldn't have children. Just because someone can't afford (or doesn't want) to drop up to $1,000 in one whack doesn't mean they aren't able or willing to handle the day-to-day expenses of caring for a dog. In fact, unless we're talking about the extremely wealthy (and maybe you are), it seems to me that someone who saved on the dog's purchase price would have a little more to spend on the dog's care. So while I understand the idea that a large initial investment is an indication of someone's commitment, it's unfortunate that there are people out there who think that average working people are not worthy of any certain breed of dog, or that any certain breed of dog is more worthy of commitment and quality care.
