The Ideal Dog House for Yorkie Dogs and Puppies

Posted on 23 November 2009 by Mylene - Dog Enthusiast

Dog houses, for the most part are often wooden-made; they should be strong and offer enough space for the yorkie dog to sleep, and stretch out in. These structures that are built on a platform to protect him from cold and dampness coming from the ground.

For yorkies that are strong and will live outdoors, a dog house is an excellent option for daytime occupancy. Generally speaking, owners who are not able to accommodate their dog should think of getting a smaller breed like Yorkshire terrier since no pet should live outside his master’s house.Pet-House-Dog-House-BL070908-

If you have no option but to accommodate your yorkie with only an outdoor house, it will be necessary to provide him with a more elaborate house, one that really protects him from the elements.

Be sure the yorkie’s house is strongly made of waterproof materials. Use clean beddings for your yorkie dog to snuggle into a cold night and provide extra insulation to keep out drafts and wet weather.

Add a partition (a kind of a room divider which separates the entry area from the main sleeping space) inside the yorkie’s dog house. A swinging door may suffice to help him feel warm and comfortable when he is confined in his doghouse, contentedly.

The swinging door facilitates entry to and from the dog house, while at the same time it provides protection, particularly from wind and drafts.

Some fortunate owners whose yards are enclosed by high fencing allow their yorkies complete freedom within the boundaries of their property. In these situations, a yorkie can leave his dog house and get all the exercise he wants.

Of course, such a large space requires more effort to keep it clean. An alternative to complete backyard freedom is a dog kennel or run which attaches to or surrounds the dog’s house.

This restricts some forms of movement such as running, perhaps, but it does provide ample room for walking, climbing, jumping, and stretching.

Another option is to fence off the part of the yard and place the dog house in the enclosure. If you need to tether your yorkie to its house, make certain to use a fairly long lead so as not to hamper the dog’s need to move and exercise his limbs.

For yorkies, indoor-outdoor dog houses offer pest-free, sanitary conditions for your yorkie. These attractive living options can be acquired from pet stores.
