Yorkies do require a little to alot of professional grooming depending on whether its a typical house pet or for show. A Yorkie house pet will need to be brushed every 3 days at MINIMUM and will need a professional grooming at least once each month to maintain the long coat. If you dont care for long coat and desire a shorter coat then a professional groomer is needed approx. every 2-3 months. The longer the coat, the more a Yorkie tends to shed but even then its not that much.
As for the ears (Ucy), Yorkie ears are not professionally cropped but must be trained while they are a pup (4wks) otherwise they will continuously fall. To train the ears, you must measure the length of the ears first. You will need medical tape and a wide plastic straw. Measure the space between the two inner ears then cut the straw to this size. Then measure the length of both outer ears then cut the tape to this size. Place the straw over the center sticky part of the tape. As a shunt, bridge the straw in the center of the ears and fold the remaining tape onto the flap of the ear. With the tape, go completely around the ears a second time to reinforce it. Leave the taped shunt on your pup for 14 days. Take it off for 7 days. Re-do this process and leave it for another 14 days. The process should be complete by week 9, ears shall now stand erect forever.

FYI - Teacup Yorkies are adorable but come with many health problems due to incorrect breeding. Owners breed together their smallest male and smallest female which results in much smaller Yorkies. Although there is no such thing as a teacup yorkie, breeders have labeled them as this for more money.
FYI- a Chihuahua is the "smallest" dog in the world (height 6"-9") and the Yorkie second smallest (height 8"-9"). Any pet smaller than the standard breed is a deformity. People are paying outrageous prices for these itty-bitty-teeny-tiny pups who end up having severe health problems in just a few short years. A "teacup" is no better than the average puppy-mill pup.

I just wanted to say if you want a dog for free then you do not want a do really at all as dogs need things such as a vet. Not just one visit but a life time of them. I would say if you can not pay for a dog then, You need not have a dog they need good food and toys not just ohhh how cute I want one

I am considering buying a teacup yorkie and was had a couple of question about their coat care. 1.) Do they shed heavily? 2.) Do they require routine professional grooming?

Thanks for your assistance in addressing these concerns.

Yes that is true. But only partially- they do not shed their coat, it grows out naturally. Full grown yorkies have finer hair, puppy yorkies more coarse, or thick. The colors of a yorkie's hair also change as they age from darker tones to lighter.
