Readers have requested information about yorkie cross temperaments. I have compiled information in a chart below. Just as each puppy in a cross breed litter can look different, temperaments of cross breeds vary also.

The best way to predict possible temperaments of cross breeds is to look at the temperaments of each dog- the result may be any combination of the two groups of temperaments.

Other Breed Temperament

Yorkie Temperament

Chorkie

Chihuahua

AKC: A graceful, alert, swift-moving little dog with saucy expression, compact, and with terrier-like qualities of temperament.

Negatives: Can be grouchy, self-centered. Not good around children or other breeds of dogs.

Best yorkie cross temperament: This is impossible to say without knowing each individual’s needs. We all will look for different qualities; what one pet owner sees as desirable may be unbearable to another. For example, I would enjoy a Maltese-yorkie mix because the Maltese genes would most likely increase politeness, and both dogs do not shed- I have terrible allergies. Also both breeds are very happy, fun-loving and playful dogs. These are traits I adore. Some people love to spoil a Chihuahua to avoid snappiness, but I find it extremely annoying. Yorkie cross breed temperaments is a very interesting subject- I’m sure you will agree.

We have a beautiful 8 mo. old puppy, We have always owned dogs through our 53 married years. Wonderful memories!!! But this little girl WILL NOT housebreak!!! She has 4 puppy pads set up for her in 2 rooms, she occasionally uses them but will have no problem of relieving herself right in front of me. She is very intelligent,so that is not the problem. Now I think of how often I doubted someother people when they had problems with their pets ! We have never had such a little headache. I forgot to say that she is a Morkie.
